Fannie Mae

A privately held, NYSE-listed corporation, named Federal National Mortgage Association, that purchases residential, Federal Housing Administration, and Veterans Administration mortgages from savings institutions, and resells them by means of mortgage-backed securities. These securities are not guaranteed by the U.S. government.
